Admissions & Pre-Enrollment Disclosures
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

SAP is evaluated at three points during the program. Students must meet both the attendance and academic standards at each evaluation to remain enrolled.

  • Minimum cumulative attendance rate: 67%
  • Minimum cumulative academic average to remain enrolled (SAP standard): 70%
  • Evaluation points: 450, 900, and 1,000 clock hours
  • Maximum time frame to complete the program: 1,500 scheduled hours (150%)
  • A student who fails SAP may be placed on warning for one evaluation period. If the student still fails after warning, the student may appeal within 5 school days. If the appeal is approved, the student may be placed on probation or an academic plan.

ⓘ Important — Two Different Academic Thresholds:

70% cumulative average — the minimum required to remain enrolled and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress throughout the program.

75% theory grade (C or higher) — the minimum required to graduate and receive your Certificate of Completion. Meeting SAP at 70% does not automatically qualify you for graduation. You must reach 75% by program completion.

Grading Scale (Theory / Academic Work):

A90 – 100%Excellent
B80 – 89%Above Average
C75 – 79%Satisfactory — minimum to graduate
D70 – 74%Minimum to remain enrolled (SAP)
F0 – 69%Unsatisfactory — fails SAP

Practical skills are evaluated Pass/Fail. A Pass requires demonstrated competency and compliance with safety and sanitation requirements.

Graduation Requirements
To graduate from the Class A Barber Program and receive a Certificate of Completion, the student must:
  • Complete 1,000 clock hours
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the program (minimum 70% cumulative academic average at each SAP evaluation)
  • Earn a minimum passing theory grade of 75% (C or higher) by program completion — this is higher than the 70% SAP continuation standard
  • Pass all required practical evaluations (Pass/Fail)
  • Complete all required documentation and records
  • Comply with professional conduct, safety, and sanitation requirements
  • Satisfy all financial obligations before graduation clearance
Attendance, Tardiness, Make-Up Work & Conduct
  • Regular attendance is required for successful completion of the program.
  • The student is expected to arrive on time for scheduled classes and training.
  • Excessive tardiness may result in disciplinary action.
  • Make-up work or make-up hours may be permitted only under school guidelines.
  • The student is expected to behave professionally, respectfully, and ethically at all times.
Leave of Absence Policy
An approved Leave of Absence may be granted for documented reasons such as illness, injury, family emergency, military duty, or other accepted circumstances.
  • A Leave of Absence must generally be requested in writing and signed by the student.
  • Supporting documentation may be required.
  • A Leave of Absence is granted only when the school has a reasonable expectation the student will return.
  • Total Leave of Absence time may not exceed 180 calendar days in any 12-month period.
  • No additional institutional charges are assessed solely because of an approved Leave of Absence.
  • Failure to return from approved leave or taking unapproved leave may result in withdrawal.
Refund Policy — Notice of Cancellation

Man Barbershop Academy maintains a refund policy that complies with applicable Texas state law (Tex. Occ. Code §1603.3602–1603.3603) and NACCAS Withdrawal and Settlement Policy standards. All refunds are calculated based on scheduled hours and the effective date of termination.

Cancellation Period – Full Refund
A student is entitled to a full refund of all money paid if the student cancels the Enrollment Agreement not later than midnight of the third day after the date the Enrollment Agreement is signed, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays. Cancellation must be submitted in writing.

Pre-Class Cancellation
A student who cancels enrollment after three business days of signing the Enrollment Agreement but prior to the first scheduled day of class is entitled to a full refund of all monies paid to the institution, except the State Permit Fee ($25.00) and any kit or supplies already issued to the student, which are non-refundable once issued.

Effective Date of Termination
The effective date of termination is the earliest of: (a) the last date of attendance if terminated by the institution; (b) the date the institution receives the student's written notice of withdrawal; or (c) ten (10) school days after the last date of attendance.

Official cancellation or withdrawal also occurs when:

  • An applicant is not accepted by the school — full refund of all monies paid.
  • A student on approved leave notifies the school they will not return.
  • A student is expelled by the school.
Tuition Refund Schedule — Tex. Occ. Code §1603.3603

After the cancellation period, if a student withdraws or is terminated before completing 50% of the program based on scheduled hours, the institution may retain $100.00 from tuition and fees paid, and must refund the applicable percentage of outstanding unearned tuition as shown below. After 50% completion, no additional refund of outstanding tuition is required.

⚠️ Texas TDLR — Notice of Potential Ineligibility for License

Texas law:

  • restricts the issuance of occupational licenses based on a license applicant's criminal history; and
  • authorizes the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), in some cases, to consider a person convicted, even though the person was only on probation or community supervision without a conviction.

As an applicant/enrollee in an educational or training program that prepares individuals for issuance of an occupational license, I have been provided with notice by Man Barbershop Academy of the following:

  • If I have been convicted of an offense or placed on probation, I might not be eligible for an occupational license issued by TDLR after I complete this educational or training program.
  • TDLR's criminal history guidelines are available at www.tdlr.texas.gov/crimconvict.htm and include restrictions or guidelines TDLR uses to determine eligibility for an occupational license.
  • I have the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter from TDLR, which is explained in more detail at www.tdlr.texas.gov/crimhistoryeval.htm.

Section 53.152, Occupations Code, requires that this notice be provided to each applicant and enrollee regardless of whether the applicant or enrollee has been convicted of an offense.

Refund and Ordered Payments: State law requires TDLR to order Man Barbershop Academy to refund tuition, license application fees, and examination fees if: (1) TDLR determines the school failed to provide this notice; and (2) the student's license application was denied because of criminal history.
